We’ve compiled data from our customers who have had their windshields replaced by Toyota dealerships and found that the average cost for a new Toyota windshield is between $200-$350. Which Type of Glass Is Best?

Rack of new windshields

The type of glass you have installed can affect the new windshield cost by more than a hundred dollars. Requesting an aftermarket windshield over a dealer or OEM glass will save you money, but a cheap windshield price isn’t always the best and may crack easier.

Below is a brief description of each glass type to help you make the best decision when picking replacement windshields.

OEM Windshields: These are factory-installed in most vehicles and made from safety glass.

Dealer Windshields: Dealers install these windshields when they perform warranty work on your car. They may use different types of glass depending on their preference.

Aftermarket Windshields: This is the lowest cost option but may not work if you’re leasing your Toyota.

Generic Glass: This is the cheapest version of glass you can buy, and we recommend staying away from it. We’ve found these to have poor durability, inferior performance, and even safety defects.

Toyota History

Toyota has been around for roughly 75 years and has produced everything from a compact sedans to a truck and even sports cars. They’ve also created high mileage hybrids and a luxury lineup branded as Lexus.

Toyota first hit the scene back in 1937 with the Toyopet Crown. In 1959, the Corona replaced the compact Toyopet Crown sedan. Then, in 1962, Toyota introduced the Corolla, which replaced Corona and competed with the Chevrolet Corvair.

Toyota wasn’t initially a sports car company, but in 1964 they released the Celica, which featured a V8 engine. Then, a year later, the Supra came out, and it had a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine. It was one of the fastest production cars at the time.

After having great success in the sedan and sports car market, Toyota decided to start building trucks. They released their first truck in 1978, called the FJ40. They later followed up with the T100 in 1989 and then the FJ45 in 1990.

A few years later, they started making hybrid vehicles. Their first model was the small hatchback Prius released in 1993. Since then, Toyota has created many different hybrid models like the Prius, RAV4, Matrix, Avalon, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, and more.

Toyota continued its success trend by moving into the luxury car market. In 1999, they introduced their first luxury brand named Lexus. They soon followed this up with the Scion line of products.

Today, Toyota is still producing some of the most popular vehicles globally, including the Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Prius, Rav4, Sienna, Tundra, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do Toyota dealerships replace windshields?
Yes, most Toyota dealerships will replace your windshield at no charge if it has been damaged in an accident or by hail. They can also provide estimates for the cost of a windshield replacement, but the price may be higher than one quoted by an individual glass shop.
  2. Does the Toyota warranty cover the windshield?
The factory warranty from Toyota does not cover replacing a broken windshield. However, dealerships offer other programs that help reduce the costs of replacement if glass damage occurs within a set timeframe. You’ll need to ask the dealer if they offer a windshield protection plan for your vehicle.
  3. What would cause my Toyota windshield to be more expensive than average?
If your car comes with safety features such as the ADAS system, the glass price could be higher. The Advanced Driver Assistance System is a sensor-based system designed to help you be safer on the road. These systems can include lane keep assist, blind-spot detection, automatic emergency braking, and forward-collision warning.

For example, the lane-keep assist uses cameras mounted on the vehicle’s front to detect when the car has drifted out of its lane. If the system detects that the driver hasn’t corrected their position within a certain amount of time, the system alerts them via a visual signal or haptic feedback.

This technology is becoming more common on vehicles today and can add up to thousands of dollars in additional costs for the glass replacement process.
  4. Where can I get a mobile glass repair service?
We have auto glass companies located everywhere throughout the United States that offer mobile glass repair and mobile glass replacement services.
  5. What is the best way to get your Corolla auto glass replaced?
Auto glass replacement for your Toyota Corolla using the services of a trusted and quality mechanic can save you vast amounts of money.
  6. Should I file a claim with my insurance company?
If you have comprehensive coverage, filing a claim with your insurance company could save you some money. However, the windshield cost could be lower than your deductible, so it’s a good idea to check both prices before deciding whether to file a claim.

In summary, these are some key takeaways:

  1. Most Toyota Dealerships Replace Your Windshield At No Charge To You If It Has Been Damaged In An Accident Or By Hail.
  2. Do Not File A Claim With Your Insurance Company Until After You Have Received An Estimate From A Local Glass Shop.
  3. Ask The Dealer About Any Programs That Might Reduce The Cost Of Replacement.
  4. Check For Safety Features On Your Vehicle Before Purchasing New Glass.
  5. Be Aware Of The Difference Between Factory And Aftermarket Glass Prices.
