Volvo C70 Windshield Replacement

The Volvo C70 windshield replacement cost can range from $350 to $790, depending on the year of your car. When replacing the Volvo C70’s windshield, it is important to select a safety-certified laminated glass, as this will reduce impact damage and provide insulation against thermal stress. In addition, this glass helps keep noise levels down while driving and prevents UV rays from entering your vehicle cabin. The right type of glass must also be used and installed properly in order for the windshield replacement process to be successful.

Glass Options

When purchasing a replacement windshield for your Volvo C70, you have three options to choose from OEM (original equipment manufacturer), aftermarket, and dealer. Dealer glass is typically the most expensive option; however, they are the only ones that will have the automotive maker’s logo printed on them – no other difference exists between OEM and Dealer glass, so you could save a little money and get the same quality by requesting OEM.

Aftermarket replacement glass typically offers savings close to 40% when compared to Dealer glass. Despite being cheaper, aftermarket glass still meets Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). However, OEM and Dealer glass have more resistance to rock chips than aftermarket.

Ultimately, it comes down to what is most important for you; cost savings associated with aftermarket glass or increased durability associated with OEM or Dealer glass.

Recommended Volvo C70 Repair & Maintenance

The best way to ensure that your Volvo vehicle remains reliable and safe on the road is to follow the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule as stipulated in your owner’s manual.

  1. Oil Changes: Owners of Volvo C70s must adhere to careful maintenance routines, including regular oil changes. With standard oil, the interval for this task should not be more than 4,000 miles, while those using synthetic oil can stretch it out to 6,000 miles. Postponing or skipping these important maintenance outings can result in serious engine damage caused by corrosion and sludge build-up. Regular service is critical for the optimal functioning and longevity of the vehicle’s interior components.
  2. Tire Rotations: To maximize tire life and safety, it is recommended that Volvo C70 owners rotate their tires every 3,500 miles. The rear wheels on the C70 have more camber than standard cars, which means the tires are on a greater angle to provide better support while cornering. Unfortunately, the increased camber causes the tires to wear out faster on the inner edge, so rotating them on a normal schedule of 5,000 to 6,000 miles may result in the need to purchase new tires prematurely. I went through 50,000-mile rated tires in 10,000 miles by not rotating them on my C70.
  3. Tune-Ups: Tuning up a Volvo C70 should be performed every 10,000 to 12,000 miles. During tune-up service, the technician will check all spark plugs and wires to ensure they are properly functioning while also inspecting the timing belt/chain and other engine components. On average, a full tune-up costs around $350-$450.
  4. Brake Pad Replacement: Brake pads should be checked for signs of wear about every 10,000 miles for a Volvo C70. If worn brake pads are not replaced quickly, it may lead to higher average repair costs in the future due to more extensive damage done by metal grinding against metal. Replacing brake pads is typically estimated cost around $150-$200 per axle, depending on the brand of pads installed.
  5. Replace Windshield Wiper Blades: It is important to replace the wiper blades on the Volvo C70 at least once every six months due to exposure from hard rain or cold weather which can cause cracks in them easily, making it difficult to clean the window, particularly during wetter conditions. On average, wiper replacement cost around $25-$50 per blade, but it could increase depending on the brand of blades installed.
