Anyone can search for “used tires near me cheap” to find a great offer. However, these tires can look pretty good on the outside but can have hidden issues internally, affecting driving performance. So be cautious when quoted a super low price!

Does anyone buy used tires?

Absolutely! I’ve purchased a used tire in the past for the 1991 Toyota Tercel I owned. I was in my early 20s and desperate. I didn’t have much money, so I looked into used replacement tires. This helped with my budget since they weren’t very expensive.

Unfortunately, they weren’t very reliable and left me stranded not long after buying them. To be fair, there was a nail in one of them that may have made it unsafe to drive on even if it were brand new, but once again these things are hidden issues so it wasn’t easy to check for!

People that buy used tires usually aren’t aware of all these surrounding issues until it’s too late. It’s best to have a professional inspect your potential purchase if you do decide to go with a used tire.

Are used tires safe?

This is hard to answer since they CAN be safe. If you see them on Craigslist or any other used tires shop, it’s a good idea to have them professionally inspected by someone with experience before purchasing. The condition of the sidewalls and tread depth could look perfectly fine, but there may be inner liner damage that could cause you to get stranded later on down the road.

Buying new tires is your best bet if you are looking for a safe ride.

How long do used tires last?

This depends on the amount of tread left on the tire. Most are only good for a specific amount of mileage before you have to change them. It’s hard to say how long used tires last since it depends on the conditions they were kept in and driven on by the previous owner.

Are used tires worth it?

This depends on how much they cost. If the price for a used tire isn’t that much cheaper than a new tire, I would recommend going with a new one. However, if you’re tight on cash and need to save money, a used tire will always be a good choice. As mentioned previously, just make sure you have them inspected first!

How much do used tires cost?

On average, pricing for used tires is about half of what new tires cost. Price could also depend on their condition and where you’re purchasing them from. I spent around $30 dollars for each tire on my Toyota which was an excellent saving compared to new ones at that time.

Who sells used tires near me?

I’ve seen them in plenty of used tire shops around my local area here in Texas, but I’m sure there are plenty of other locations nationwide too. Just use Google or Bing and search for “used tires shop near me” or “nearest used tire business” to find and contact a helpful location. You can also visit a few junkyards for deals! One online tire store that sells both brand new and used tires at affordable prices is BestUsedTires.com. They have great deals and same-day free shipping.

Are vehicle makers responsible if used tires malfunction?

Sorry, but if you buy used tires a warranty for them is probably out of the question. For this reason, you should take any precautions necessary before purchasing such as having them professionally inspected! New cars on the other hand will usually have a warranty that covers the tires as long as they are the original ones when you bought the car.

Our professional recommendation

If you’re short on money it doesn’t hurt to buy used tires until better ones can be bought later. So if you need a set of cheap tires to get you from point A to B, then go for it. However, we recommend buying new tires. Why? Because there are too many hidden issues with buying used. It can be difficult to pass on discount products, but the advantage of buying new ones will help guarantee durability and safety. I hope this article has helped answer any questions you may have in your search for used tire services.
